In 2010 White Castle was the scene of a lot of activity on the ground, with survey and excavation taking place.  But in the skies above the site, there was also some work being carried out.  Using the latest technology to survey from above using a camera platform and sophisticated photographic survey software to model the site.

The survey was carried out by Michael Smith of Flying Scots Cam and John McCreadie of PhotArc.

The results were spectacular and perhaps lead the way for mapping and survey of complex landscape features and monuments.

See what you think.
