Adventures in archaeology

Project Dates: 1st to 14th August 2010 - (Full duration attendance only)
Location : East Lothian, Scotland

Cost: £395 (approx $660) including bunkhouse accomodation, food and transport to and from site. (You are responsible for travel to the centre of Edinburgh where you will be picked up and dropped off at the beginning and end of the project).

Project Type: Open to students and volunteers (minimum age accepted: 18 years old) - Places are limited to 14 participants only so early booking is recommended.

Accomodation: Self catering accommodation in bunkhouse with kitchen facilities and showers. All meals are provided in the cost, extras are the responsibility of the particpant and trips to local stores will be available.

Experience required : None, training will be provided by experenced professional archaeologists, with additional (optional) lectures on various aspepts of archaeological fieldcraft.

Other activities : Fieldtrips to local sites and monuments and day visit to Edinburgh during the International Festival and Fringe.

What to wear : Scottish weather can change at any time. Sometimes there are four seasons in one day where it goes from sunny to pouring with rain. It is therefore recommended that you come prepared with warm, light-weight clothing, a waterproof coat and wellingtons or stout boots. In case of sun you may need sun tan lotion and a hat.
